Modern Marketing Support is a online business management company owned and operated by me, Shari Sultana. I started my business in 2005 by providing virtual marketing support for a few start-up companies. One thing lead to another and eventually my business grew to supporting 14 small business owners. The gradual shift to online business management for e-retailers happened in 2009 when one of my clients asked me to manage the daily operations of her retail ecommerce business.

As an Online Business Manager I operate my clients’ ecommerce businesses so my clients can continue to create the amazing products that bring them success. One of the many facets of running an online retail business involves marketing. My skill set encompasses all areas of retail ecommerce marketing including inbound marketing and website conversion optimization.
As part of managing their business I collaborate with my clients to plan and implement inbound marketing strategies and methods to grow the business and increase the revenue. I do this in the same way as an in-house employee except I’m independent, virtual and outsourced. I work remotely and although I have never met any of my clients in person, I still maintain the same close working relationship as if I was in-house. Working as a virtual online business manager means I have low overhead expenses and I pass those savings on to my clients. I don’t charge an excessive hourly rate because I don’t have to, not because I can’t.
When required I will utilize the talents of my preferred graphic design/wordpress expert, expert product copywriter and an inbound marketing virtual assistant. I’m also very comfortable working with my clients’ own virtual team of graphic designers, web developers, copywriters, virtual assistants and consultants.
Prior to Modern Marketing Support I was a restaurant business manager for 10 years most notably at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, Canada. I have a B.A. from McMaster University, a diploma from Sheridan College and I am an Inbound Marketing Certified Professional through HubSpot, with whom I was professionally associated for 3 years as a founding member of their highly successful Partner Program. I am also a member of the Association of Online Business Managers and continuously work to stay informed of the latest marketing trends and strategies for internet retailers.
